Tyrese Haliburton
A few months ago Tyrese Haliburton reached out and asked me to work on a refreshed personal identity for him. At his direction he wanted something that matched his dialed personal style and could stand out in a landscape of personal player identities that feel largely the same - hard edges, almost militaristic in execution to signal “strength” in a literal way… we wanted to find a way to express his vision in a way that could stand out.
I am proud of where we landed, and it happened in large part because we were able to work closely and directly on this identity in a truly organic way. As he said in his recent Highsnobiety feature: “Look good, feel good, play good.” I think this identity reflects that approach.
Thanks to Salehe Bembury for being such a great advisor in the process and for creating such a beautiful shoe for this to be placed onto. The Hali 1 features the logo on the tongue and heel.
In the months leading up to the announcement, Tyrese teased out the logo and it was put into use for his youth league over at Pro 16 League. These moments teased out the wordmark that was built to complliment the core logo. It’s been great seeing this brought to life in so many places and I feel honored to have been able to contribute to the story of Tyrese (and support a fellow Wisconsinite).
